Another remarkable weekend of Championship action delivered plenty of goals, comebacks and drama – with a 10-goal thriller at Solitude and Warrenpoint Town hitting six.
Strabane Athletic 2-2 Newry City (Friday)
Strabane Athletic and Newry City shared the points after an entertaining four-goal draw.
Sean McCallion gave Strabane the lead before Kyron McGee and Aaron Donnelly turned the game around for Newry.
However, Simon McGlynn struck in first-half stoppage time to level the scores, with neither side able to find a winner after the break.
Annagh United 3-1 H&W Welders
Annagh United came from behind to secure an impressive victory over H&W Welders.
Daniel Mhondiwa gave the Welders the lead, but Craig Taylor produced a moment of quality to bring Annagh level before Henry Cromack converted from the penalty spot.
Sam Sproule then sealed the points deep into stoppage time, completing a strong second-half comeback.
Ards 1-0 Rathfriland Rangers
Ards returned to winning ways with a narrow victory over Rathfriland Rangers.
The only goal came in first-half stoppage time as Fiontan O’Boyle found the net to secure Ards’ first win in four league matches.
For Rathfriland, the wait for their first point of the season continues.
Armagh City 3-5 Institute
Institute produced one of the comebacks of the weekend as they recovered from two goals down to win an eight-goal thriller.
Armagh raced into a 2-0 lead before Padraig Lynch pulled one back from the penalty spot. Lynch then scored again after the break before Stephen Doherty completed the turnaround.
Armagh briefly levelled, but superb goals from Liam Mullan and Tiernan Brolly completed a remarkable 5-3 victory.
Ballinamallard United 1-1 Glenavon
Ballinamallard United and Glenavon shared the points at Ferney Park.
Daniel Barker gave the Mallards an early lead, but Ryan Waide levelled from the penalty spot before half-time.
Neither side could find a winner after the break as the points were shared.
Newington 5-5 Dundela
One of the games of the season already.
Newington and Dundela played out a remarkable 5-5 draw, with the lead changing hands repeatedly throughout a chaotic encounter.
Aaron Heaney scored a hat-trick for Newington, while Michael Morgan added two, but Dundela refused to give in and Charlie Dornan’s late goal ensured the most dramatic of draws.
Queen’s University 1-0 Loughgall
Queen’s University left it late to secure another important victory.
With the game heading for a scoreless draw, Tommy Smyth popped up two minutes into stoppage time to fire home the winner.
It was another positive result for the Students, while Loughgall’s difficult recent run continues.
Warrenpoint Town 6-2 Moyola Park
Warrenpoint Town produced an excellent attacking display to put six past Moyola Park.
The visitors led twice during an entertaining opening period, but Warrenpoint responded on both occasions before taking control.
Adetobi Jinadu scored twice, while Jim O’Hanlon, Adam Carroll, Gerard Storey and Michael Leddy also found the net in an emphatic victory.
